William Snakespeare is our Gopher Snake Ambassador. He was relinquished to PWC as a pet and, having been raised in captivity, is unable to hunt or survive in the wild. At 11 years old, William helps visitors learn about native snakes and the important roles they play in local ecosystems.
Fun fact: Gopher Snakes are non-venomous and not dangerous to humans, but when threatened, they can mimic rattlesnakes by coiling, raising their heads, and rapidly shaking their tails.
